Energy Saving settings grayed out due to APM not set up.
Cause:
APM (Advanced Power Management) has not been configured on the computer.
Solution:
Double-click the 'System' icon in the 'Control Panel' window, and select 'Advanced Power Management'. Click the plus sign next to 'System Devices', and double-click 'Advanced Power Management Support'.
1) Click the 'Start' button to display the 'Start' menu.
2) Select 'Settings' and select 'Control Panel'. (The 'Control Panel' window appears.)

4) Click the 'Device Manager' tab.
5) Double-click 'System Devices'. (The 'System Devices' tree expands.)
6) Select 'Advanced Power Management support'.
7) Click 'Properties'. (The 'Advanced Power Management Properties' dialog box appears.)
8) Click the 'Settings' tab.
9) Select the 'Enable power management support' check box, and click 'OK'.
10) Click 'Yes' when prompted to restart the computer.
